• Die »Politik des Ursprungs« bezeichnet die Konstruktion eines Handlungsprinzips, welches seine Legitimation durch ein »Schwellennarrativ« bezieht: eine an einem epochalen Ereig- nis festgemachte und durch diesen Ursprung legitimierende Sicht auf die »neue Welt«, die »neue Zeit« oder das »neue Paradigma«. Der Beitrag geht der »Politik des Ursprungs« am Beispiel der Konstruktion des Achsenzeitdiskurses nach und situiert diesen in der europäischen Religionsgeschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Reifizierungen der Achsenzeitthese, wie sie verschiedene Autoren seit Alfred Webers und Karl Jaspers’ Popularisierung unternommen haben, stellen folglich Aktualisierungen einer neuen Politik dar. Auch wenn der Beitrag die Erzählung der Achsenzeit als mythopoetische Konstruktion der europäischen Religionsgeschichte ausweist, zielt der Beitrag auf die Ausarbeitung eines Analyseinstruments zur allgemeinen Bestimmung von Schwellennarrativen. • »Politics of origin« refers to the construction of a certain principle of action, which obtains its specific legitimation through a narrative of thresholds: a perspective regarding the »new world«, »new order« or »new paradigm«, which is linked to a certain epochal event and which derives its legitimation through the emphasis of this origin. The following article debates »politics of origin« by reference to the empirical investigation of the construction of a discourse of »Axial Age« within the European history of religions of the 20th century. Reifications of the thesis of »Axial Age«, like certain authors have tried to do following its popularization by Karl Jaspers and Alfred Weber, can therefore be understood as actualizations of a new politics. Even though the article conceptualizes the narrative of »Axial Age« as a mytho-poetical construction by the histories of religion, it also tries to develop an analytical tool for the general study of threshold-narratives.
