Objective: To describe and analyze the applicability of the Theory of Cultural Care on research published in the journals of Nursing Brazil, in the period 1992-2011. Method: Literature captured 59 articles highlighting origin, year of publication, subject and area of nursing knowledge. Results: The analysis reveals the existence of articles in all areas of nursing, which shows the scope of acceptance of the theory. However, the Brazilian tendency for applicability in the area "Maternal child" with 42,3% of the articles that addressed the cultural values that interfere with the process of giving birth. Conclusion: The Theory of Cultural Care is a proposal to offer a universal care, and meet the diversity of each individual, their world and values which influence their reactions. In Brazil there are few articles with the applicability of the theory, however Nursing is using the same in all areas of its operations.... view less
