Abstract

Der Beitrag von Sofie Olbers beschäftigt sich zunächst grundlegend mit dem Problem, welche Rolle Kultur für die Herausbildung interkultureller Kompetenz spielt. Aus einer anthropologischen Perspektive präsentiert sie verschiedene Ansätze, Kultur zu definieren, Kultur zu unterscheiden und zu beschreiben. Diese überprüft sie hinsichtlich ihrer Relevanz für interkulturelle Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen.

Intercultural contact and training for intercultural competences have to deal with the question: what is culture? The following article recommends for getting more engaged with the topic of such a great complexity, one that is too complex to be dealt with in a course of just a weekend workshop. The article gives an overview of several anthropological concepts of culture and discussions, which are worth to study regarding intercultural communication and competences. There are several possibilities to define, describe and differentiate cultures. The article wants to show the perspective of seeing the potential of the growing and transforming process in culture.
