In der sozialgeografischen Studie geht es darum, den in der Sozialwissenschaft thematisierten sozialen Strukturwandel - weg von der Klassen- hin zu einer heterogenen Lebensstilgesellschaft - mit quantitativ für ein gesamtes Stadtgebiet verfügbaren Daten der amtlichen Statistik nachzuvollziehen. Als Basis für die analysierten 'Lebensformengruppen' werden aus soziologischen Lebensstilansätzen Selektionskriterien abgeleitet. Im Zentrum des Beitrags steht die Frage, wie sich das Phänomen der neuen Gesellschaftsstrukturen in Form neuer residenzieller Wohnstandortmuster im urbanen Raum abbildet. Es stellt sich heraus, dass für das Wohnstandortverhalten der Haushalte neben den Bedingungen des Wohnungsmarktes sowohl die Zugehörigkeit zu einer bestimmten sozialen Lage als auch die Zugehörigkeit zu einer bestimmten gesellschaftlichen Modernisierungsstufe von entscheidender Bedeutung ist.... view less

This socio-geographic study is concerned with finding empirical evidence from the quantitative data provided in official statistics available for an entire municipal territory for the change in social structure addressed in the social sciences, i.e. away from a class-based society to a heterogeneous, life-style society. In order to establish a basis for the so-called 'life-form groups' analysed, selection criteria are derived from sociological attempts to characterise life styles. The central concern of this paper is the question of how the phenomenon of new societal structures manifests itself in the form of new residential patterns regarding place of residence in an urban area. With regard to the behaviour of households in choosing where to live, it is evident that this decision is critically determined not only by the situation on the housing market and the social Status of the household, but also by how it ranks itself within society in terms of modernity.... view less
