• Die große Mehrheit der Unternehmen fällt ihre strategische IS-Entscheidungen entweder sehr gefühlsorientiert oder benutzt Methoden, die nur sehr eingeschränkt zu den Entscheidungssituationen passen. Zentrale Begriffe wie ”Geschäftswert der IS/IT“ oder ”strategischer Wert eines Informationssystems“ sind nur sehr unscharf definiert. Dies widerum führt zu großen Schwierigkeiten bei der Bewertung, Kontrolle und Steuerung der Informationssysteme. Obwohl im Gebiet der betriebswirtschaftlichen Strategieforschung zahlreiche Strategietheorien existieren, werden diese Modelle nur in sehr geringem Umfang im Gebiet des IS-Managements angewandt. Dies gilt für die Forschung als auch für die unternehmerische Praxis. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist ein Modell, welches eine strategietheoretisch fundierte Bewertung von Informationssystemen ermöglicht. Zu diesem Zweck wird auf Basis der Ressourcentheorie der Begriff ”strategischer Wert eines Informationssystems“ definiert und in einem zweiten Schritt durch konkrete Kennzahlen operationalisiert. Hierzu greift das Bewertungsmodell konsequent auf Begriffe und Kennzahlen der de-facto-Standards ITIL und Cobit zurück. Auf diesem Wege wird sichergestellt, daß auch Praktiker das Modell schnell verstehen, akzeptieren und anwenden können. Der praktische Nutzen des Bewertungsmodells wurde durch Experteninterviews validiert.…

On the other hand, if managers employ normal methods like cost benefit analysis they often ignore it’s limitations. There is no common understanding of key terms such as ”business value of IS“ or ”strategic value of IS“. Fuzzy definitions cause great difficulties in evaluation, monitoring and strategic controlling of information systems. In the field of economic research numerous theories of strategy are existent. But these models are applied only to a small extent in the field of IS management. This applies to actual scientific research and for today’s business practice. The aim of this work is an evaluation model for informations systems based on a proven strategy theory. Resource based view of the firm (RBV) is used to define the term ”strategic value of an information system“. The operational evaluation model is based on concepts taken from the de-facto standards ITIL and Cobit.
