• Es werden heute im Rahmen der germanistischen Diskursanalyse weitreichende Diskussionen über die anzuwendende Bedeutungs- und Sprachwandeltheorie geführt, sowie auch Fragen gestellt nach dem epistemologischen Status der zu beschreibenden Diskursstrukturen und nach der Rolle der individuellen und sozialen Faktoren innerhalb der Prozesse der Diskurskonstitution. Die inhaltsorientierten Linguisten dieser Strömung befassen sich also mit den Themen, die von einem der bedeutendsten deutschen Sprachtheoretiker Manfred Frank bearbeitet wurden, und zwar in Auseinandersetzungen mit denjenigen strukturalistisch geprägten Forschern und Sprachphilosophen, von denen die zeitgenössischen Diskurstheoretiker maßgeblich beeinflusst sind. Mein Beitrag beabsichtigt, Franks sprachtheoretischen Ansatz in der laufenden Debatte unter den Diskursanalytikern hypothetisch zu verorten.
• The discourse analysis based on Foucault asserts itself in the linguistic circles in Germany only with difficulties, that were ascribed by the very exponents Dietrich Busse and Wolfgang Teubert to the prejudices of the rationalistic and subjectoriented mainstream. Now, after some time, as these main protagonists of the linguistic adaptation of the thoughts of the French philosopher find themselves in a sharp mutual controversy in regard to the principles of their own historical semantics, it comes out that their contemporary dissensions are to be traced back to some contradictions in Foucault's discourse and subject theory itself. These contradictions have been analyzed by Manfred Frank with the conclusion that they are to be resolved only by a hermeneutic language theory consisting in the principle of irreducible individual subjectivity. The study, for one thing, recapitulates these conclusions and, for another, shows that the peripheral branch of the discourse analysis presented by Busse and Teubert deserves more attention because it does not hedge while facing up to the central questions of linguistics as well as the human sciences.
