• This study explores the changing culture of emotions and forms of love in German literature of the late 18th century. The paper attempts to demonstrate that love as a passion is not primarily a natural phenomenon, but a cultural one. The main part of the study presents three interpretations. Firstly, using Sophie von La Roche's novel "Geschichte des Fräuleins von Sternheim", the author shows that in the age of sentimentalism the notion of love was based on loving oneself (amour propre). The second interpretation focuses on Goethe's "Die Leiden des jungen Werther" and concludes that the main function of love in this text is to make uncorrupted authentic communication possible in a world otherwise alienated by conventions. The final interpretation turns to Goethe's "Briefe aus der Schweiz" and "Römische Elegien", outlining love as a special form of hermeneutics of life and a fundamental condition for the process of creation.
• Ve své studii se autor soustředí na měnící se kulturu emocí a formy lásky v německé literatuře koncem 18. století. Do popředí zájmu se postupně dostává otázka po historiĉnosti smyslné lásky, přiĉemţ autor zastává tezi, ţe smyslná láska není v první řadě přirozený, ale spíše kulturní jev. Hlavní ĉást studie obsahuje tři interpretace: Na příkladu románu "Geschichte des Fräuleins von Sternheim" autorky Sophie von La Roche nejprve prezentuje, ţe v období sentimentalizmu se pochopení lásky zakládalo na sebelásce (amour propre). Ve druhé interpretaci se autor studie soustředí na román Johanna Wolfganga Goetha "Die Leiden des jungen Werther" a dospívá k závěru, ţe hlavní funkcí lásky v tomto textu je umoţnit nekorumpovanou autentickou komunikaci v jinak konvencemi odcizeném světě. Poslední interpretace se zabývá Goetheho spisy "Briefe aus der Schweiz" a "Römische Elegien". Zde je láska zvláštní formou hermeneutiky ţivota, která je zároveň předpokladem pro veškerou tvorbu a veškeré mistrovství v oblasti umění.
