Gefährdung von Flora und Vegetation in der Region Spessart

Threats to the flora and vegetation in the Spessart region (Germany)

  • In the upland Spessart region (Bavaria, Hesse), 1513 species of wild plants were recorded and threats to these species were analysed. The threats were quantified according to species categorisation in the Red List. Qualitative threats, in terms of negative habitat changes, can be described in terms of the proportion of extinct and threatened species within a given type of vegetation. Highly threatened habitats are described briefly, and some individual species are used to exemplify the rapidly changing biodiversity as well as deficiencies in the current understanding of the floral status.
