For applications in the field of organic electronics the processing of transparent, conductive layers with laser radiation offers a high resolution patterning process at high throughput rates compatible to high speed roll-to-roll-printing processes. The most commonly used transparent, conductive layers ITO and PEDOT/PSS show the highest absorption in the deep ultraviolet spectral region (< 250 nm). Therefore, the processing of these two materials is investigated in this thesis using excimer laser radiation with the wavelengths 193 nm and 248 nm. The aim is to characterize the processes the patterning is based on. The fundamental knowledge of the processes in the materials, leading to modification and ablation, are systematically developed by analyzing the optical and electrical properties as well as the chemical composition of ITO and PEDOT/PSS layers after laser irradiation. The obtained results yield to a gently patterning process which prevents the material from damage. This high throughput patterning process is based on the modification of the layer below the ablation threshold.
