Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy is an extremely versatile analytical technique which yields a wealth of data on molecular systems. Its main disadvantage – the lack of sensitivity – seems to exclude any application in the field of nanotechnology. However, this drawback is easily compensated by using a large number of nanostructures, e.g. dispersed nanoparticles. This chapter summarizes and explains possible NMR experiments on nanoparticles based on this approach. All of them rely on the NMR-specific capability of independently detecting two pieces of information on each molecular system constituent: its chemical nature as well as its molecular mobil-ity. With this in hand, it is easily possible to identify all structural system components. Further, one can follow their formation, their decomposition and observe chemical exchange processes in the equilibrium and the non-equilibrium state. Hence, all possible functions of desired nanoparticle carriers can be studied on a single dispersion sample. Generally, the NMR data are analyzed using a computer model of the particle system which is able to reproduce the full width of NMR experiments based on a chosen parameter set. This approach will serve as an important tool for future developments on nanoparticles for various applications.
