  • CAP treatments offer new opportunities in cancer therapy. The effects of CAP have been demonstrated in various cancer entities and are mainly shown to inhibit proliferation. In this work it could be shown that CAP acts antiproliferatively on OC cells. This anti-tumor effect affected all four investigated OC cell lines and was dependent on the treatment duration. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that the antiproliferative effect of CAP could also be transferred indirectly via CAP-treated medium. With the medium RPMI / 1640, the significant antiproliferative effect was also dependent on the treatment duration of the medium. Furthermore, the influence of CAP on cell mobility was investigated. Again, inhibition of cell motility could be detected in all four OC cell lines, although slight differences between the lines were suggested. Another molecular mechanism was the modulation of intracellular and extracellular levels of the cytoprotective factor HSP27. This protein mediates pro-oncogenic effects and plays an important role in therapy resistance. As shown, after CAP treatment, the intracellular concentration of HSP27 decreased while extracellular concentration increased. However, the cellular functions of this release of HSP27 are still unclear and certainly very interesting for future projects. Overall, it can be stated that CAP is suitable for inactivating OC cells. The treatment leads to antiproliferative and antimetastatic effects as well as intracellular decrease of prooncogenic HSP27. Subject to further investigation, in particular on the function of secreted HSP27, and subject to the evaluation of CAP treatment in the clinical context, the use of CAP in gynecological oncology is very promising. In this case, both a direct CAP treatment of tumor tissue and an indirect treatment by CAP-activated medium would be conceivable.
