• Die Arbeit untersucht die Entwicklung der Museumsgründungen in Deutschland im Zeitraum von 1800 bis 2005 in Abhängigkeit von der Dichte der Museumspopulation, sowie in Abhängigkeit von vier Wirtschaftsfaktoren (Industrialisierung, Internationalisierung, Verstädterung und Verstaatlichung). Die Untersuchung findet auf Ebene aller Museen, sowie auf Unterebene von vier Museumstypen statt: Kunst-, Technik-, Naturkundliche und Kulturhistorische Museen. Theoretische Grundlage für die empirische Untersuchung ist ein auf den Annahmen des organisationsökologischen Dichteabhängigkeitsmodells basierendes Dichteabhängigkeitsmodell für einen meritorischen Sektor. Die empirische Untersuchung wird anhand einer für den Zweck der Arbeit erstellten Museumsdatenbank durchgeführt.
• The author analyzes the development of the founding rates of German museums (from 1800 to 2005) as a function of population density, and depending on four economic factors: industrialization, globalization, urbanization and state activity. The investigation is conducted at the level of the entire museum population, as well as at the levels of four types of museums: art museums, technology museums, natural science museums and cultural history museums. The theoretical basis for the empirical investigation is a density dependence model for a meritoric sector.
