  • In this work primary functionalization of nanodiamond was realized by [4+2]-cycloaddition of o-chinodimethane. In the next steps thiol groups could be established for further functionalisation. The thiol group serves as a binding position for a radical reaction with allyl groups. As a reactant allylglycoside was synthesized and bound to the diamond surface in the presence of a radical starter. The diazonium salt method can be applied in order to couple the target molecule with the functionalized diamond, too. 4-aminobenzoic acid as startingIn this work primary functionalization of nanodiamond was realized by [4+2]-cycloaddition of o-chinodimethane. 4-aminobenzoic acid as starting material allows for a direct introduction of a carboxyl group on the diamond surface. An amide bond could be created by reaction of primary amine (carbohydrate cluster) and acid group. After completion of the synthesis of the saccharide-diamond conjugates their potency as inhibitor of Escherichia coli was tested. In order to extend the methods for stable functionalization of the diamond surface, the ability of introducing the Bingel-Hirsch-reaction, which is known from the chemistry of fullerenes, was investigated. Different malonic acid derivates with significant IR bands were applied for the investigation on diamond.show moreshow less
