These questions were answered through the collection of primary data by means of an online consumer survey in an empirical study. The survey took place from 07.06.2016 until 06.27.2016. In total 320 data sets have been used based on a ratio schedule in regard to gender and age of German Internet users. The main results indicate that 96,6% of all respondents are aware of the online availability of grocery. Nearly 85% are interested in online shopping - especially in non-perishables. Furthermore, more than half of all respondents have already - at least once - ordered grocery online. A crucial fact to expect a positive growth of online grocery trade, is that all persons who have tested the offer once are willing to continue exactly as often as before, or even more often. Factors that influence the acceptance are primarily the expectation of customers in terms of lower prices, a deep range as well as time savings. The current acceptors are already shopping other goods online and use less often stationary food retailing than non-acceptors. The consideration of subscription models shows that the customers are interested in a regular supply of self-selected products too.show moreshow less
