  • A productive use of the internet is important to tap the full potential and to reduce the risks of the medium. Children are not able to look on media in a critical way, so they are not able to distinguish between useful and dangerous effects. Children need their family and their teachers to form media skills. But there are different opinions about this topic. The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to get an overview of the quantitative use of the internet relating to children aged between 9 and 12 attending the Astrid-Lindgren-Grundschule in Falkenberg/Elster (Brandenburg/Germany). Apart from the kids, the parents and the teachers were asked about their use of media. Do they have media skills? What has the world wide web instore for the children? Which chances and risks arise by reason of using the internet? This bachelor thesis gives information about it.
