The meaning of bookdesign in the digital age

  • This paper deals with the design of printed books and e-books. The purpose is to find out in which way the digitalisation changed the design and which meaning it has for the designer, the publishing company, the customer and the market. While the first part deals with printed books, their design and its intention, the second part is dedicated to e-books, the development of the market and the changes in designing. It contains an analysis in which the differnces of an e-books and a printed books design are pointed out. Furthermore the data of a survey has been analysed, in order to find out the customers opinion on e-books and their buying behaviour
