Abstract

Translation of abstract (English)

The founder of the so called Mannheim School, Johann Stamitz, was not only known as a concertmaster and instrumental music director, but also as a famous virtuoso on the violin. Apart from his symphonies he as well composed a number of demanding violin concertos, most of them mainly for his own requirements. The aim of this thesis is to raise the public interest in those violin concertos; on the one hand, because they are available in modern notation, on the other hand, because they are considered and analyzed from the musicological point of view. After an introduction considering Johann Stamitz' life, work, surroundings and sphere of activity, the first part of this paper will give a detailed description and analysis of the violin concertos – to point out and indicate his preferences and compositional characteristics. The second part consists of the edition of ten violin concertos. In careful detail work these compositions have been restored and renovated.
