Properties of aluminum powders and of extrusions produced from them

Abstract

The tensile strength and yield strength of aluminum powder extrusions are functions of the powder particle size or flake powder thickness. Oxide content, except as it depends upon flake thickness, has only a minor effect upon these properties. The degree of dispersion of the oxide, therefore, appears to be the controlling factor in the strengthening mechanism of these extrusions.
