Abstract
Having its roots in a research unit established by the University of Liège and a similar unit organized by a Charleroi steel firm, the Centre National de Recherches Métallurgiques—CNRM—was established in 1947 to combine these two centers. Today it is one of Europe’s important metallurgical research organizations.
