Zusammenfassung

Die ärztliche Verordnung strebt primär eine kausale Therapie an, während die Selbstmedikation beinahe ausschliesslich symptomatisch bleiben muss. Letztere spielt aber, unter der Voraussetzung einer gezielten Information durch den Apotheker, eine wichtige Rolle, wenn die Mitverantwortung der Bevölkerung für einen vernünftigen Gebrauch der Arzneimittel gefördert werden soll.

La prescription médicale porte avant tout sur une thérapie causale, tandis que l'automédication devrait se borner presque exclusivement au traitement des symptômes. Cependant — et à condition que le pharmacien renseigne dûment le consommateur — l'automédication joue un rôle important dans le cadre d'une sensibilisation de la population en faveur de l'usage raisonnable des médicaments.

Summary

Medical prescription particularly aims at a causal therapy whereas self-medication should be exclusively limited to symptom treatments. But, provided that the chemist informs properly the consumer, self-medication takes a prominent part within an education of the population to a reasonable use of medicine.
