Abstract

According to microanalytical determinations the brutto formula of catechol-germanic acid should be written with two molecules of water. The thermal decomposition of this compound takes place with liberation of catechol; liberation of water can be excluded. Pyridine-germanium catecholate, however, decomposes by liberating pyridine, but no catechol is set free. The results clearly show that these two compounds have different molecular structures:
