Zusammenfassung
As a consequence ofSU 4-invariance, spin singlet and spin triplet phase shifts should be equal for nucleon-nucleon scattering at even angular momenta. The usefulness of assumingSU 4-symmetry is tested by calculating, with the use of the Hamada-Johnston potential model for nucleon-nucleon interaction considering only theSU 4-mvariant central part of the potential, the phase shifts in the energy region from 20 MeV to 320 MeV forl=0, 2, 4 and by computing with the use of the Born series the corrections to these phase shifts arising from the residual parts of the potential. Although the approximate equality of the singlet phase with one of the triplet phases persists for l>0, the results obtained do not show promise of great usefulness of the hypothesis ofSU 4-invariance for discussing nucleon-nucleon interactions.
