Migrationspädagogik mit fluchterfahrenen Kindern der Primarstufe im Spannungsfeld von Theorie und Praxis

  • The focus of this thesis is on the behaviour of child refugees in the context of their cultural identity and the promotion of the cultural relations of these children through a pedagogy of migration and a migration-sensitive attitude of teachers who are confronted with great pedagogical challenges in highly heterogeneous classes. The theoretical part deals with different approaches to the discourse on a pedagogy of migration, which on the one hand are specific for a migratory society and on the other hand fundamental for the development of a migration-sensitive attitude of teachers. Subsequently, critical considerations are addressed on the cultural identity and cultural shaping of child refugees and on their behavioural repertoire in the context of school, which is mainly based on their migrationrelated living conditions. Finally, the effects of the legal conditions for child refugees in Austria and possibilities of promoting the classroom climate through cultural encounters are explained. In the empirical part, evidence is provided to the theoretical discussion on the pedagogical context of migration by means of a problem-centred interview with primary school teachers in an everyday context. The presented results of the empirical research describe essential excerpts from the answers of the interviewed teachers about fundamental attitudes of the teacher to migration and society, about experiences of the teacher in connection with cultural identity of child refugees, about potentials as well as difficulties in the behaviour of these children and about how school institutions can provide necessary support for the teachers concerned.
