• Mit dem Bibliothekskongress in Leipzig startet das dreijährige Projekt von Bibliothek & Information International »Partnerland USA 2016 – 2019«. Was sich dahinter verbirgt und welche Veranstaltungen und Kontaktmöglichkeiten daraus bereits für den Kongress in Leipzig resultieren, zeigen Susanne Riedel und Guido Jansen im Folgenden auf.
• The »Library & Information International« (BII) will kick-off its three-year project »Partner Country USA 2016 – 2019« at the German Library Congress in Leipzig in March 2016. Having enjoyed positive experiences with the previous partner country, Turkey, the library umbrella organization BID (»Library and Information Germany«) and the BII hope to expand and solidify this project format. Not only new projects and encounters are being planned, but existing cooperation agreements also will become further linked and publicized. The already numerous contacts in existence between German librarians and individual colleagues and institutions in the U.S. led to the selection of the U.S. as partner country for 2016-2019. As the oldest library association in the world, the American Library Association (ALA) is, moreover, an attractive partner which has numerous points of contact with Germany. The partner project will be officially launched at the library congress in Leipzig. Along with the ALA president, Sari Feldman, it has also been possible to arrange for the current president of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), Donna Scheeder – who happens to be an American – to attend the congress as an honorary guest. Thanks to well-placed advertising, there have also been many responses to the Call for Papers from U.S. professionals; as a result the U.S. will be in evidence at the congress with about 20 lectures, presentations and discussion rounds. At the ALA stand there will be further opportunities for gathering information and arranging cooperative endeavors.
• C’est à l’occasion du congrès professionnel des bibliothèques à Leipzig en mars prochain que débutera le projet triennal Bibliothè-que, information et international »partenariat avec les États-Unis 2016-2019«. Après la fructueuse expérience du précédent partenariat, monté alors avec la Turquie, le BID, fédération des associations professionnelles des bibliothèques d’Allemagne (Bibliothek und Information Deutschland) et le BII ont pour ambition de développer et de consolider le projet. Ce faisant, entrevues et projets nouveaux ne doivent pas seulement être initiés mais qui doivent être multipliés. Les coopérations déjà existantes doivent être organisées, approfondies et davantage tissées. En raison des bonnes et nombreuses relations qui nouent déjà les bibliothécaires allemands aux collègues et institutions américains, le choix s’est porté sur les États-Unis pour le partenariat sur la période 2016-2019. En l’Association des bibliothèques américaines (ALA, American Librairy Association), la plus ancienne association professionnelle de bibliothèque au monde, il y avait un partenaire évident, dont les liens avec des personnalités et des institutions allemandes étaient déjà nombreux. A l’occasion du congrès professionnel des bibliothèques à Leipzig, les États-Unis comme partenaire pour la période 2016-2019 sera officiellement lancé. Préalablement, la présence au congrès de deux hôtes d’honneur a été obtenue: d’une part la pré-sidente de l’ALA, Sari Feldman, d’autre part Donna Scheeder, l’actuelle présidente de la Fédération internationale des associations de bibliothèques (IFLA, International Federation of library associations) qui est aussi originaire des États-Unis. Par le biais d’une publicité adaptée et un appel à communications, de nombreux spécialistes américains se sont manifestés pour participer, de telle sorte que les Etats-Unis seront représentés à Leipzig par pas moins de vingt interventions, exposés et comptes-rendus. Sur le stand du pays partenaire tenu par l’ALA, une offre d’informations complémentaires et de mise en relation avec les Etats-Unis sera présentée.
