Objectives: The MPI has been developed based on the comprehensive geriatric assessment and was found to predict mortality [1]. Among orthogeriatric patients fractures close to hip joints are particularly associated with postoperative anemia and high mortality rates [2], [3]. Data on MPI application on orthogeriatric patients is rare. This study was intended to evaluate MPI results, postoperative anemia and mortality rates among orthogeriatric patients with hip fractures compared to orthogeriatric patients with other fractures

Patients & Methods: A number of 100 patients of a universitarian orthogeriatric unit is currently being evaluated. Inclusion criteria are age ≥70 years, any type of fracture requiring surgical intervention and written consent with the study; exclusion criteria are bruises without fracture, age <70 years and lack of written consent with the study; main objective is to analyze if MPI scores in patients with fractures close to hip joints are worse than MPI scores in patients with other fractures; secondary objectives are the association of MPI scores with postoperative anemia and mortality rate after 6 months.

Results /Conclusions: Preliminary results will be published during Alterstraumatologiekongress 2016 in Marburg, Germany.
