Abstract

This paper challenges the assumption that written reports are the preeminent medium for information dissemination in social research and argues instead for translational research disseminated across a variety of delivery systems using multi-media approaches. Translational performances are described, several examples of translational performance projects are provided, and guidelines for assessing translational attempts are presented. Michelle MILLER-DAY is an Associate Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University. Her work focuses on communication within interpersonal and family relationships and how this communication shapes mental health and substance use.
