Abstract
The subject of the present study is the Ovita1 relocation settlement which is located in the Dehiwala-Mt. Lavinia Municipal Council area. The site came into existence in 1992 as a result of a canal improvement and relocation project initiated by the central government of Sri Lanka. The study explores municipal solid waste management activities carried out by the residents of the settlement, the municipal council and waste entrepreneurs. Such solid waste management activities are examined in relation to the collapse of the Meethotamulla waste dumping site and the spread of the COVID 19 virus.
