Abstract

This thesis deals with the investigation of models for the description of binary and ternary adsorption equilibria on the basis corresponding to the pure component adsorption equilibria. A large number of equilibria from literature and also own experimental data have been taken for the investigation of the models. The priority of the experimental work was set up to the determination of adsorption equilibria of organic vapours on dealuminated Y-zeolites. Six prediction models and one correlation model have been investigated in the model test. A special attention has been directed to the model PRAST, which uses the Henry-coefficients of the pure component isotherm for the calculation of the activity coefficients needed for the calculation of the binary equilibrium. It became obvious that the prediction models can be used only in a restrictive way. Because of that for an engineering of an adsorption process extensive experimental measurements are necessary. The correlation model can be used in a very good way for the support of the experimental measurements.
