(DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (Englisch):Education centres are not only places of learning and organisers of educational events but also places to meet, exchange and communicate. Because they are firmly rooted in the region, they have an important role to play as an educational and economic organisation: they are regional employers, promote ecological thinking and action and assume social responsibility at that location. In recent years, the authors explain, an unlimited perspective on learning spaces and environments has developed that was initiated by the discussion of new learning cultures and new learning worlds. This brings with it new challenges for the education centres and forces them to understand themselves as a space for “learning communities” and to develop new opportunities for cooperation. Several examples illustrate how this change is taking shape in the educational centres as well as what differentiates educational centres from other continuing education providers and seminar hotels. They are educational institutions that provide a broad range of services, create an atmosphere that promotes learning and foster a sense of well-being. In keeping with their tradition, which follows Grundtvig’s concept of education, learning and living are seen as a combined didactic/pedagogical goal. (DIPF/Orig.)
